Sticky patch for St Helens industry
In a move that has sent a shockwave through British industry Pilkington has announced plans to leave glass making behind in St Helens after more than 200 years in the town.
"We're getting bored with glass" said Bob Burglar, managing director of Pilkington Uk "The decision has been made to turn all our facilities to toffee making. Pilkingtons furnaces are ideally suited to boil sugar instead of sand and mile long rivers of treacle toffee would lead to an upsurge in prosperity in the town."
Business sources in the city reckon the story is pure confection.
