Clinkham Wood - A Suburban Nature Lover's Paradise
Following last months feature on the lovely area of Parr, this month the spotlight is turned on the misrepresented suburb of Clinkham Wood.
As the name suggests, the main feature of this delightful part of town is the wood itself. Steeped in history, many of the trees date back to pre-historic times and are very big with green leaves and bark on them. Relics from yesteryear are dotted around the place, including several interesting examples of charred motor vehicle remnants.
Take a walk through this spectacular woodland and you might just bump into some of the friendly local characters performing their quaint traditions. Many of the younger inhabitants congregate in the beautiful surroundings, enjoying a drink or two, whilst others perform the ancient ritual of inhaling solvents for the pleasurable sensation this gives them. If you’re very lucky, you could even spot one of the few naturists who like to visit the woods on their own, surprising visitors with a quick flash of their private parts. What a hoot!

Despite the abundance of nature, Clink also has some incredible examples of classic British architecture. Take a look at the wonderful example of 70s design, The Saracens Head, one of the few pubs in England which is built on stilts over a car park. The domestic residences also provide the architecturally-inquisitive a feast

for the eyes, with many excellent examples of post-war prefabricated dwellings.
If retail therapy is more your thing, then Clinkham Wood cannot be beaten. With not just one, but two incredible shopping centres the extensive choice is hard to take in. Whether you’re after a packet of cigs or a Pot Noodle, you’ll have no problem

finding your favourite variety in Clink.
Like other aspects of life in ‘the wood’, the nightlife can’t be beaten. What with the choice of the aforementioned Saracen’s Head and Moss Bank Labour club, there really is no substitute, the only criticism being the closure of the famous Banana Republic nightspot.
Whatever your pleasure, Clink is the place to be.
