Former US President kicks off in Labour Club

TOP STORY12 August 2002

Irrefutable evidence has recently come to light that the former US President, Bill Clinton resided in the Parr area of St Helens from 1964 to 1968. A regular at the Ramford pub, Bill was known as quite a character by the locals.

Bill's former next door neighbour, Edith Blenkinsop remembers the Premier clearly. "Bill was quite a jack the lad. Often he'd throw his empty chip paper into my front garden on his way home from a night out with his mates, the cheeky little tosspot!".

Further proof of Bill's time in WA9 came from Arthur Crabtree, a retired bucket fettler, who worked alongside Bill at the former Ormrod & Ackroyd Brass Bucket works in Gaskell Street. Said Arthur, "We were apprentices together during the 60s."

Bill's former residence "One night, after a few pints in the Horseshoe, me and Bill went to Cindys on the pull. Bill copped off with this right pig and I got off with her mate. When we got them back home, Bill got his saxophone out and entertained us all. He kept it up all night!"

It is alleged however, that Bill's amorous antics sometimes got him into trouble. One night at Parr & Hardshaw Labour Club, he allegedly tried it on with Sandra, who was Ronnie, the Concert Secretary's wife. Pissed as usual, Bill was overheard saying something like "I'm in here mate". Ronnie overheard this and launched at Bill with a right hook.

Fucker

Arthur recalls the incident well. "It all went off that night, you could sense it. But Bill could handle himself, Ronnie had no chance, Bill decked the fucker and shagged his wife!"

Our researchers contacted Washington for Bill's comments on the news. We quoted some statistics about the above average demand for saxophone tuition amongst teenagers in the area. A spokesman said "Bill does not want to discuss his time in Parr. It's a long time ago and he has grown up a lot since then."
